A-2D Impact of COVID-19 on Dental Services in Corrections (CERP, CE)
Room 131-C Track: Dental
This workshop will give the perspectives of three state agencies on the impact of COVID-19 on the delivery of dental services in their prisons. Modifications to dental clinics, changes in the delivery of dental services and the influence of the pandemic on staff will be described. New screening protocols, personal protective equipment and environmental protection equipment will be discussed. Experiences with temporary restrictions on dental services and return to routine services will be reviewed including their effect on wait lists. The workshop will conclude with a discussion on the consequences of the pandemic regarding staff illness and absenteeism, retention, recruitment and availability of temporary staff. Learning Objectives: • Participants will be able to identify protocols and procedures dental clinics adopted and special equipment that was procured to protect offenders and staff from virus transmission.
