The presentation will review dental conditions, including acute oral and maxillofacial trauma, pain, swelling, infection, uncontrolled bleeding and any other dental conditions that are likely to remain acute or worsen without intervention. Learning Objectives: • Acquire skills for effective, time-saving, and comprehensive assessment of dental emergencies and make informed triage decisions. • Communicate triage findings to on-site and off-site dental staff. • Explain strategies to provide effective palliative care for dental emergencies until referral or transfer to dental staff can be made. E-2I Inside the Mind of a Prison Gang Leader Room 131 A/B Track: Jails This workshop will examine how prison gang leaders are created and how to understand their way of thinking. It also will discuss how to prevent the recruitment of new prisoners to gang life, how to create programs to help gang members exit the gang life and identify what really works in the world of reentry. Led by Andre Norman, who was raised in a low-income neighborhood with limited positive influence, dropped out of school, joined a gang and was sent to state prison at the age 18. Although, he faced an over 100-year sentence, he was able to transform his mindset and in turn change his life. Participants will be able to get answers to some of their most controversial and provocative questions.
