Yet, today’s correctional practices have evolved to counting “everything else” to ensure decision makers are given the information needed to make data driven and data informed decisions. This session will demonstrate how the Louisiana Department of Corrections developed and continues to build its capacity to do just that. From developing a clear data collection objective with defined strategy and scope to analyzing the data for results and action, the presenters will walk you through some of the transformations of data collection, methods of evaluating and date use in their agency. Learning Objectives: 1.Increase efficiency in the use of data in making decisions through clearly defined scope of a data project. 2.Understand the importance of clearly defining needed data elements, prepping data prior to analysis and utilizing data for decision making. 3.Understand the importance of consistent reevaluation of data collection, outcomes and quality assurance.
