One such event happened in Ohio at a corrections facility involving staff contamination. Discussion will include what can be done to help staff process upsetting scenarios to promote their mental health. Learning Objectives: 1.Participants will be able to recognize ways that illicit synthetic drugs enter a correctional environment. 2.Participants will be able to explain the role of staff as “first responders” who are impacted both physically and psychologically from exposure to inmates exposed to illicit synthetic drugs. 3.Participants will be able to identify ways psychology/mental health professionals can mitigate the impact of staff exposure to crisis situations with synthetics.
