Speakers: Richard Babcock , Deputy Division Director, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Huntsville, Texas; Eric Guerrero , Deputy Division Director, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Huntsville, Texas A-4D Restorative Justice, Facilitated Dialogue and the Circle Process Room 253 Tracks: Reentry/Community Corrections The Restorative Justice, Facilitated Dialogue and the Circle Process is designed to provide participants with an understanding of the concepts of restorative justice, which is often listed as the fifth purpose of punishment. Restorative justice has been used in jurisdictions; in those countries whose delivery of justice is primarily adversarial, the concepts of restorative justice have not generally been included in sentencing. This workshop is designed to provide an understanding that providing safety is the primary consideration, offenders need be held accountable for their behavior and victims and communities harmed by crime are restored. The second part of the workshop is to provide examples how restorative justice works.

The format is very flexible with the exact content being defined by the experience and skills of the participants.
