C-2E Clinical Practice Guidelines and Updates (CE-RN, CME, CERP) Room 207A Track: Treatment This workshop will focus on clinical guidelines and updates in Correctional Medicine and the delivery of care. The session will address new changes in the treatment and follow up in providing care to our patients. After attending this workshop, participants will gain understanding of upcoming treatment options, recognize the challenges in caring for patients in correctional environment and recognize ethical perils in clinical practice. Learning Objectives: • Participants will be able to summarize a clinical overview of new areas of medicine. • Participants will be able to assess the scope of health services of incarcerated populations. • Participants will be able to explain recent advances in clinical care. C-2F New Utah State Prison, Designed to Serve Multiple Special Populations Within One Correctional Perimeter Room 208A Track: Prisons For the last 5 years, a new prison has been under construction to replace the current Utah State Prison. It is projected to be completed by December 2021. Collaboration among architects, contractors, engineers, inmates, their families, the public, legislative representatives, correctional staff and stakeholders have made this custom project a reality. The Prison Relocation and Transition Team for the Utah Department of Corrections will share the successes, failures and lessons learned in designing, building and preparing for this updated facility. Learning Objectives: • Understand the decision-making process, while navigating roadblocks and seeing the project from beginning to end. • Better communicate with co-workers and partnering agencies. • Draw from the experiences shared and apply them to their lives.
