This interactive workshop will give staff assigned to PREA-related duties for all confinement types an opportunity to learn about the Department of Justice (DOJ) PREA Auditor Handbook, which is a critical audit preparation resource. The workshop will

help staff understand how they can use the Auditor Handbook as a tool for supporting their ongoing sexual safety efforts under the PREA. The workshop will be facilitated by two practitioners with experience evaluating, training, implementing and auditing the PREA standards. They will offer guidance on how the Auditor Handbook can assist in their efforts to prepare for each stage of the PREA audit. Learning Objectives: • Understand and be familiar with core auditing topics, key information and resources outlined in the DOJ PREA auditor handbook that can benefit agencies/facilities undergoing PREA audits. • Identify the audit process methodology expectations DOJ PREA auditors use and apply to determine agency/facility compliance with the PREA standards. • Increase their knowledge of the audit process, auditor core activities and documentation agencies/facilities must produce as part of a PREA audit.
