Ezekiel , DDS, Eastern Regional Dental Director, Virginia Department of Corrections, Roanoke, Virginia; Adam Wyatt , DDS, Chief of Dental Care, Virginia Department of Corrections, Richmond, Virginia A-1D Alcohol Use Disorder’s Impact on the Body and Mind: Healing through Collaboration (CE-RN, CE, Ψ CE, CERP, CME) Track: Physicians/Midlevel This presentation will look at the disease through a “medical lens” and a “psychological lens” as multiple symptoms emerge, and professional collaboration must be done to capture current problems and potential solutions. Damage to the body organs will be explained. Need for staff and inmate education will be emphasized. Promising healing components will be presented which include medical pharmacology, root triggers of the disease, power of recovery stories, need for a period of abstinence, need to build a life around sober supports and activities, need for behavioral therapy and other adjunct therapies and the need for reentry linkage to aftercare. Learning Objectives: • Participants will be able to identify key medical symptoms and physical outcomes of Alcohol Use Disorder. • Participants will be able to assess the Intimacy of Addiction and the need to determine root causes of use.

A-1C COVID-19: The Virginia DOC Dental Initiative (CERP, CE-RN) Track: Dental Adjustments were required for dental practices amid the COVID-19 pandemic. During this presentation, a clinical overview of the Virginia Department of Corrections dental practice will be provided. Detailed explanation of insight to patient care risks, patient populations and COVID-19 treatment considerations that directly involve high risk situations will be presented. A comprehensive evaluation of the Envo N95 Mask will also be given, highlighting its use within the dental field, suggested protocols and its effectiveness for protection against the spread of COVID-19.
