A-4I Integrating Best Practices from Corrections and Workforce Systems to Match Jobseekers

to Services: Findings from the IRES Pilot Project Room 209 With the support and technical assistance funded by the Second Chance Act, two pilot sites —Milwaukee County, Wisconsin and Palm Beach County, Florida — were tasked with piloting the Integrated Reentry and Employment Strategies (IRES) framework and identifying successful strategies for communities interested in implementing a collaborative approach to reentry planning. The IRES pilot project focused on operationalizing cross-systems collaboration and coordination among corrections, reentry and workforce development agencies to reduce recidivism and increase job readiness for people returning from incarceration. In this workshop, participants will learn about each site’s challenges and successes to developing collaborative case planning and integrating the efforts of criminal justice and workforce development systems. Participants of this workshop will also learn about Palm Beach County’s unique medium for sharing individualized case plans, risk-need and job readiness assessment results between correctional staff and community service providers.
