Department of Corrections implemented comprehensive pre- and post-release co-occurring services to inmates returning to Jefferson, Wakulla, Leon and Gadsden counties in Florida. The primary goal of I-CORE is to integrate pre- and post-release services producing a continuum of care that reduces the high recidivism rate of medium to high-risk inmates with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. Objectives: Participants will be able to discuss benefits of providing integrated co-occurring services; discuss challenges and possible solutions to implementing a pre- and post-release co-occurring program for justice-involved individuals; and identify challenges of providing post-release services to offenders with a co-occurring disorder. A-4E Growing Your Own: Increasing Certified Addiction Staff (CE/CME/CERP)

Room 308 This workshop will provide an overview of the Georgia Department of Corrections Addiction Certification Preparation Program (ACPP). This program was designed to meet the increasing need for certified addiction counselors who are trained and qualified to deliver addiction services to high-risk, high-need offenders. This workshop will explore program sustainability, staff retention and staff development. Objectives: Participants will learn how to increase the number of certified staff within your agency; gain knowledge on creating partnerships with certification boards; and understand how this training program can promote staff retention.
